About Kate

Kate’s new client status:

Currently HAS A WAITLIST
BUT IS OPEN FOR CONSULTATIONS

Hello! And welcome! I’m Kate, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My style of therapy is firmly rooted in establishing a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment in which clients can tackle difficult topics (or just say the things they never thought they’d say out loud). My passion is to empower clients to experience transformation and growth, meaningful and lasting change, and a life of self-understanding and self-acceptance.

My area of particular interest is working with clients to improve their relationships – whether it be with romantic partner(s), family, friends, or colleagues. I believe that we derive meaning in our lives through our connections with others, and I help foster respectful, healthy, and fulfilling relationships.

I also specialize in seeing those with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, women’s issues, difficult life transitions, anger management, self-esteem, sleep problems, and trauma. I have completed 49 hours of training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

I am welcoming and affirming of individual differences including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender, political stance, body size, age, and ability. I work collaboratively with clients to help them achieve their therapeutic goals. As an eclectic therapist, I draw from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities to meet the specific needs of each individual. I am happy to see adults 18 and older.

I received my undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University and my graduate degree from Widener University. I gained extensive and invaluable experience through my fieldwork at James E. Van Zandt VA Outpatient Clinic in State College, providing therapy to veterans and their families – a population I still continue to work with.

In my free time, I am easily wooed by books and films with flawed characters. I also enjoy traveling, cooking, walking in nature, meditating, and having interesting conversations. Although raised in Northern Arizona, I have resided in Central Pennsylvania for over 25 years. I like to think I bring a Southwest, relaxed style characterized by candor, authenticity, and a touch of irreverence to my work as a therapist.
